Marissa Sharkey: RD, business owner, cat mom and Halloween enthusiast

I’m a Registered Dietitian, and I’ve been helping people transform their nutrition and health for more than 8 years.

My journey into dietetics wasn’t a straight line—I originally thought I’d go into cosmetology, but quickly realized my real passion was food, health, and helping people feel their best. I earned my degree in Food and Nutrition with a concentration in Dietetics from the College of Saint Elizabeth in 2016, completed my supervised practice of 1200 hours at Cedar Crest College, and became a Registered Dietitian in 2017 after passing the national exam.

I started out working at a New Jersey hospital, mainly with ICU patients, where I discovered how much I love nutrition support and tube feeding. Over time, my work shifted into telehealth, where I’ve been for the last couple of years. Now, I get to support people with GI conditions, tube feeding, women’s health (like PCOS and menopause), balanced eating, body image, and cardiac disease. My approach is all about making nutrition feel realistic, sustainable, and personal; because there’s no one-size-fits-all way to be healthy.

When I’m not working, I’m probably hanging out with my two cats, Graycie and Finnegan. I love lifting weights at the gym, traveling (Australia is on my bucket list!), attending concerts, and diving into a good book (spicy romance novels are my jam). Halloween is my favorite holiday as you can see and yes, that is a 12 foot Jack Skellington in my yard!

A large Halloween decoration of Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas stands on stilts in a yard, with a woman dressed as a witch holding a light in front of the house. The house is decorated with spooky Halloween decorations, including a hanging ghost with a pumpkin head and a fabric banner. It's dusk outside.
